Pharmacy Technician

If you are interested in the growing field of pharmacy then our Pharmacy Technician Program is a great fit for you. After completing this program you will have the basic technical skills, knowledge and work habits to assist pharmacists in the filling of prescriptions, i.e. the dispensing of medications in accordance with doctor’s orders. You will also have a basic knowledge of the various counter skills to assist customers.

This program includes instruction in both pharmacy operations and administrative aspects of pharmacy operations. It will also include your CPR certification. As a Pharmacy Technician graduates, you will work directly under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

Your general duties may include the entry of information pertaining to customers, insurance policies and prescription data into computer databases, the measuring or counting of medicines being dispensed by the pharmacist, the labeling of medicine containers such as bottles or vials, verifying information from doctors, verifying insurance payment information, reading physicians orders and hospital charts, keeping patients medical profiles, typing labels, maintaining inventory, generating billing, preparing third party insurance forms, and preparing unit dose medications.
